I was able to get over to the shop tonight to work on final seating position and snap a few photos!  I will just let them speak for themselves:

This morning we were able to make it out the the Wasatch BMWCCA Cars and Coffee Meeting at Salt Lake Roasting Co.  We were able to meet a lot of new people, but what made this gathering special, was our first experience with the new BMW 1 Series M.  The car was amazing to say the least.  Like any of the M series vehicles, you can easily tell that this is an M.  It really is a car who’s character is built up by a number of subtle changes in appearance that build up to create a beast who is very different from its base model variant.

When you think of a 1996 Subaru Impreza, visions of racing probably don’t come to mind. You may think “Well, I thought the 2.5RS didn’t come out until 1998,” and you would be right. What Zane Miller has done here, is that he has taken a compact economy vehicle and completely transformed it into a top contender in the Lap Battle series at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. Nothing on this vehicle is factory with the exception of the floor pans. The car has been completely cut apart and reassembled with new “Go Fast,” parts. We at Turtle Factory were happy to be a part of this transformation and are very pleased with the results as is Zane. The car was recently highlighted at the Utah Auto Expo in the Miller Motorsports Park Racing area. It was extremely exciting to see the car there, and very rewarding to see how stoked others at the show got about it.

This weekend was the Salt Lake International Auto Show. Ironically, it overlaps with the TOKYO AUTO SALON this week. There is a huge difference between the two shows. You see in Utah, the auto show is meant to inspire its audience to purchase vehicles and nothing more. The show does not offer much more than the current models of the most common of automakers. Meanwhile in Tokyo, auto makers and aftermarket parts companies bring the absolute most outrageous and interesting vehicles you will ever see. The Tokyo Auto Salon is all about innovation and inspiration.
We were happy to see BMW/ MINI participating in the show this year. They brought out a beautiful orange E92 and two of the new MINI Roadsters. It was interesting to see the new MINI, though we are still undecided on it. The other new arrival this year was the full Fisker line up. We weren’t able to get up close and personal though as the display was roped off. They are some very good looking cars though. The four door sedan is quite large as well. Volkswagen had their newest rendition of the all time classic Beetle on display. The car has a much nicer look than the previous models, and the new age steelies really pull off the look. It was sad to see the giant SCION display, but no FRS. The car is now available to order (scionfirst86.com), but they did not have a display model for us to see.
Our favorite car at the show was located in the Miller Motorsports Park Booth, a 1996 Subaru Impreza. The car belongs to a customer and friend of ours. It is his personal race car, and is VERY Fast. Stay tuned for a detailed write up on the car in our next update.
Overall the show was a lot of fun. We would like to see the show continue to grow and inspire.

12/March/2011- We have done it again!  4 Drivers, 4 Medals! 3 Gold 1 Bronze!

That’s right, you read it correctly.  The Turtle Factory Amateur Race Team had a huge amount of success at the final event in the 2010/2011 Miller Motorsports Park Wintercross Series!

The competition was intense, but the team was able to pull of a huge victory!

The Turtle Factory Team brought some of the most innovative driving techniques, and well set up cars to the track in order to accomplish such a feat. With a limited amount of true race experience on the team, it really was somewhat of a miracle that the team did so well this season.  Each of the drivers has grown in many ways, learning from other competitors and varying track conditions.

The official season points will be posted this week, but there are already a few rumors buzzing of a couple more Gold Medals on the way for winning the entire series.
